Mentos are simply one of the most iconic sweets on the market. These sweets are a product of Perfetti van Melle. Perfetti van Melle is “one of the world’s largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum”. It can be argued that once Michael and Pierre van Melle learned how to make soft fruit chews, Fruitella came into being, and eventually inspired Mentos. In 1932, the Fruitella soft chew inspires the creation of the first Peppermint Mentos.

The Peppermint flavour becomes the icon, the leader of the pack and ‘the’ favourite for many. In 1960 the famous Mentos rolls packaging came into being, and the Mentos we know today was born. As the years continue to go by and consumer demands keep changing, the company does well to expand its range with fun flavours. In 1973, there was the addition of fruit and even cinnamon flavours. Those did just as well, and continue to be part of the Mentos range of products. This brand has a unique and refreshing taste.
