Fisherman’s Friend Lozenges

Fisherman’s is a trusted local lozenge that helps alleviate symptoms of a sore throat and irritation in the throat, as well as soothe a cough. How this product came into being is interesting, and this brief background also gives the brand name some context.

The history of this particular brand is set back to 1865 when James Lofthouse of Fleetwood encounters three fishermen experiencing issues with their throats. Lofthouse was a pharmacist, and so made a mixture of eucalyptus, licorice, and menthol. Many don’t know this but, the first Fisherman’s friend mixture was in liquid form. However, back then, bottles were the main form of container. Those tended to break, and so the pharmacist thickened the ‘mix’ to create the lozenges we know today. This product gained popularity and the company expanded. Today they have over 20 flavours in 70 countries. With over 156 years of experience, they have a strong heritage of being the trusted lozenge.

Fisherman’s Friend Lozenges are available in the following flavours: Aniseed, Blackcurrant, Cherry, Mint, Original, and Spearmint.

These products are Vegetarian/vegan, Halaal, and Kosher.
