Colgate is manufactured by Colgate-Palmolive.  Its history is not as clear-cut as one would expect. What starts off as a soap and candle shop in 1806, eventually led to Palmolive’s creation. Only in 1857 the company starts to organise itself under Colgate. While this is happening, simultaneously the company continues to produce household items like starch, and even perfumes in the background. Only in 1873 does the company release its first flavoured-brand toothpastes in jars. This gives us a glimpse of the modern Colgate toothpastes. What’s more is that only in 1928, did these two companies (Colgate and Palmolive – which created the soaps and household items) officially come together.
